A PROSPECTIVE RANDOMIZED SINGLE-BLIND STUDY COMPARING ALPRAZOLAM VERSUS CLONIDINE AND PREGABALIN AS PREANAESTHETIC MEDICATION IN PATIENTS UNDERGOING ELECTIVE LOWER LIMB SURGERIES

Objective: The objective of the study was to comparison alprazolam versus clonidine and pregabalin as pre-anesthetic medication in patients undergoing elective lower limb surgeries. Methods: present undertaken compare effects 0.5 mg, 100 μg, 75 mg premedicant drugs for reduction pre-operative anxiety. 90 ASA Grades I II, between 18 60 years, either sex, surgery were divided into three groups 30 each. Baseline anxiety level after 2 h drug assessed. Side due noted before going OT (Post drug, i.e., administration), completion surgery, at 24 h. Results: There is a significant post-drug s-STAI score, t-STAI CGI score when compared baseline values all Group’s A, C, P. mild there no serious adverse observed groups. In Group 10% complained fatigue while 13.3% dryness mouth, headache post administration but P, side effect noted. Conclusion: Premedication with alprazolam, μg clonidine, control comparable though offered advantage terms less effects.
